Nellie Hilker

Nellie S. Hilker, 71, of Deltaville, VA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2016. Nellie was a member and a deacon of Philippi Christian Church. She was also a member of the Middlesex County Vol. Rescue Squad Auxiliary where she was the manager of the Treasures & Bargains Flea Market in Deltaville for many years. She was preceded in death by her father, Myrtlon Sadler, her mother, Pearl S. White; two sisters, Mary S. Owens and Ruth S. Benson; two brother-in-law’s, Grover L. Owens and George T. Benson. She is survived by her husband, Steven B. Hilker. Nel and Steve would have been married 20 years as of December 14, 2016. She is also survived by her children, David Wayne West (Karen) of Topping, VA, Richard M. West (Nikki) of Gloucester Pt., VA and Michael C. West; a brother, Charles M. Sadler of Richmond, VA and his friend Edwina Payne; grandchildren, Cassie West, Ryan West Strickland, Taylor and Tori West and Lacey West; step-grandchildren, Kyle, Ashley and Brooke Gillikin, Crystal and Katie Gary and Brittany Hilker; step-daughter, Angela Gillikin (Mark) of Chesapeake, VA and a step-son Greg Hilker of Deltaville, VA; a niece Betty Hudgins of Mathews, VA; two nephews Timmy Sadler (Cary), Paul Sadler (Mary) and a sister-in-law Faye Sadler all of Richmond, VA and many cousins. Nellie also had a very special friend of 35 years Sissy George of White Stone, VA. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Philippi Christian Church, Deltaville, VA with burial to follow at Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Nellie’s memory to Philippi Christian Church, P.O. Box 555, Deltaville, VA 23043 or to the Middlesex County Vol. Rescue Squad Auxiliary, P.O. Box 769, Deltaville, VA 23043. A reception will follow for family and friends at the Deltaville Rescue Squad Building.
