Nelson Wray Buchanan, 73, of Mathews, Virginia passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022. He worked for 38 years for Verizon and for the Mathews Animal Control for 8 years. Nelson was a member of the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years.
He is survived by Dawn Dinsmore; his sons, Steve Buchanan, Kevin Buchanan, Robert Phillips and; daughters, Lori Buchanan, Theresa Jepson, Sandra Crittenden, Carrie Phillips, Krista Robbins and; a sister, Geneva Munn; a niece, Jennifer Jefferson and two nephews, Michael Munn, Jr. and William Nelson Munn.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at H. C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Hudgins, Virginia. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Nelson's memory to the Mathews Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 1130, Mathews, Virginia 23109.
