Noma Ann Pugh

December 2, 1933 — July 5, 2024

Port Haywood, Virginia

Noma Ann Pugh, age 90 of Port Haywood, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 5, 2024, with her loving family members by her side.

Noma was born on December 2, 1933, to the late Mary and Preston Parks Colonna.

She dedicated her life to her family whom she loved deeply. Over the years, she took care of many people, worked as a Grocery Store Manager, and was a compassionate caregiver for several patients who she loved dearly. Noma loved to cook and hardly ever missed a chance to host holiday dinners for her family and friends. She loved making cakes to share with others. She was a “Giver”, always giving to those in need and had a way of making people feel welcome and loved. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Noma was preceded in death by her husband Alexander “Ellick” Pugh, son Alexander “Ellick” Pugh, Jr., sister-in-law Linda Mae Pugh whom she cared for in her home for most of her life, and son-in-law Thomas “Tommy” E. Owens, Jr. who was more like a son to her.

Noma was a devoted mother and will be deeply missed by her loving children Margaret Owens, John “Johnny” Pugh, and William “Willie” Pugh (Rhonda). In addition to her children, she is survived by her brother, Preston “Sonny” Colonna (Nancy), grandchildren Kristina Shaw (DJ), Amanda Pugh (Eric Kettler), whom she helped raise, Dustin Pugh (Michelle Horsley), Patrick Pugh (Kalysta Stevens); great-grandchildren Caden Cyhanick and Brysen Pugh “The Boys”, Easton Shaw, Kinsley Shaw, Cohen Pugh, Adelaide Pugh-Kettler, and Bentley Pugh, a special niece Pearl Waddell who was more like a daughter as well as many other nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Noma’s family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Riverside Lifelong Health & Rehabilitation Mathews, and Riverside Hospice for their compassionate care and help over the last few weeks. They would also like to thank Dr. Leming and the staff at Courthouse Family Medicine for their wonderful care over the years.

While flowers are welcome, memorial donations may be made to Mathew’s Meals on Wheels, c/o Nelda Gibbs, P.O. Box 369, Mathews, Virginia 23109, the Mathews Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1037, Mathews, Virginia 23109, or a favorite charity.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
