He had an entrepreneur spirit about him from an early age. He would often be seen pulling his “little red wagon” full of groceries to people’s homes, shoveling snow, cutting grass or even working a paper route to make money. This spirit led him to open his plumbing business in 1973 serving the Northern Virginia, Maryland and D.C. area. From there he developed a passion for real estate, either building and selling or owning several rental properties. When he wasn’t working you would find him on the football field coaching. That was his true passion so in the mid 1960’s he started the Northern Virginia football club and named his team the panthers. Over the years he coached countless amounts of young men and mentored them to be better individuals, sons and brothers. Many of whom still kept in touch with him all the way to the day he passed. By 1990 he had amassed over 200 wins (and only 17 losses) making him the winningest little league football coach in the area at the time. His final coaching position was the 1992 Bishop O’Connell freshman football team and recorded an undefeated season. In 1996 Bill retired to Palmyra, VA area with his wife Kathy and his youngest son but he never did really retire. He worked all kinds of little jobs from doing some plumbing, a clerk at a convenience store and even a shuttle driver at a car dealership. The amount of people’s lives that he touched over the years is infinite. He would walk in a room and light it up with his stories, jokes and wisdom. The family will receive friends from 11:00- 1:00 on Saturday, Feb. 19th at Bristow-Faulkner Chapel located at 15 C.F Edwards Lane in Saluda, VA with Interment to immediately follow at Middlesex Memorial Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life after the burial at 101 Watling St, Urbanna, VA 23175.
