Paul S. Green, Jr., retired boat builder, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veteran’s Hospital in Richmond, VA. He was 79 years old. He was predeceased by his parents Paul S. Green and Clementine Callis; his brother Robert F. Green “Bobby” and sister Elizabeth Callis “Lizzie”. Paul is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Milby Green and his three children Paul S. Green III “Butch” (Cindy) of Abingdon, VA, Vicki White (Phillip, Jr.) of Deltaville, VA and Kim Cox (Jeff) of Hardyville, VA. He also leaves to cherish his memory his four grandchildren, Benjamin Paul Green (Nicole), Kenzie Green, Madison White and JT Cox; a brother Maylon Green (Shirley) of Chesterfield, VA and several nieces and nephews. Paul served in E Company, 61st division of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at Camp Atterbury, Indianapolis, Indiana before being transferred to Ft. Carson near Colorado Springs where he and his wife resided until the end of his tenure in the service. After returning to Deltaville, he continued to work at the family’s boat business, P.S. Green & Sons on Broad Creek in Deltaville. In 1966 he founded Amburg Boat Craft, where he built yachts, sailing vessels and the popular Chesapeake Bay deadrise work boats. He was well known up and down the east coast for his craftsmanship. After retiring from his business, Paul pursued his hobby of building replicas of his boats, never to sell but to share with his children and grandchildren. His last work was “Noah’s Ark”. He was also a member of Christ Episcopal Church at Christchurch, VA. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Christ Episcopal Church. Interment Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, April 27th at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Deltaville Maritime Museum, PO Box 466, Deltaville, VA., 23043 or Gloucester/Mathews Animal Shelter, PO Box 385, Gloucester, VA., 23061 or Christ Episcopal Church, PO Box 476, Saluda, Va., 23149.
