Phyllis Simonton

Phyllis Rowe Simonton, 87, of Urbanna, passed away at home on Monday, July 4, 2016. She was the widow of Guy Philip Simonton and the daughter of the late Percy Mintree Rowe and Ophelia Robins Rowe. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eloise Rowe Ford and brother Kenneth C. Rowe. She is survived by her daughter, Joanie Simonton Ward and husband Pete; grandson, Ron Ward; granddaughter Shannon Ward Kerr and husband Jeff; and great-granddaughters Carson and Mallory Kerr. Also left to cherish her memory are her devoted sister, Clara Rowe Childress and sister-in-law, Jeannine Davis Rowe. Phyllis was an honorary member of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department Woman’s Auxiliary. She will be remembered by family and friends for her gentle soul and infectious laughter. The family is forever grateful for the care and support shown to Phyllis by the staff of Riverside Hospice, especially Nurse Christy and Chaplain Margaret. Also, a special thank you to Mary Whiting and Ann Lockley for making her last days more comfortable. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda. Interment is private.
