Rebecca Ann Walden

Rebecca Anne Walton Walden, a devoted wife and mother, departed this life on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. She was a lifelong member of Philippi Christian Church, where she served in the nursery, as a deaconess, and sent many cards to church members.

Rebecca was born in Gloucester County to Emmett James and Lula Virginia Gunn Walton on March 7, 1934. She moved to Deltaville after marrying Alvin, and together they raised their five children there.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Alvin Russell Walden; her two sons, Arthur Lee Walden and Alvin Wayne Walden; and six siblings.

She is survived by her three daughters: Joyce Walden Eanes, Katherine Walden Sadler (William), and L. Faye Walden Combs; her grandchildren, Shawn Walden (Kelly), Sterling Britt Eanes (Brooke), Justin L. Walden (Anne), Martha J. Sadler (Jes), Anne M. Sadler (Alan), Stephanie McGhee (Austin), Scarlett Bowles (Corey); and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Katy Walden, and her brother, Lloyd Walton.

The family would like to thank her pastor, Mike Cook, the members of Philippi Christian Church, her close friends from Bay Country Estates, and her special nephews and nieces for their cards, support, and visits.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Philippi Christian Church, 17276 General Puller Hwy, Deltaville, Va 23043 with the Rev. Mike Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Philippi Christian Church, P.O. Box 555, Deltaville, VA 23043.
