Richard Boyer

Richard Bruce Boyer, 76, of North, Va departed this life on August 24, 2018. He was born in Bowmanstown, Pa, to David Wallace Boyer and Anna Mae Bomba. He served in the US Army in airborne and special forces and was proud to have been a Green Beret.

Richard spent most of his career in the telecom industry in Washington, D.C. first with AT&T and retiring from Verizon. He then went to work at Sandy Spring Bank in Olney, MD., where he met his current wife, Libby Lipscomb Boyer. They moved to Mathews County in 2003. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his previous spouse Sheila Boyer, one son Tully Boyer and wife Pamela from Baltimore, three granddaughters and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Apostles Lutheran Church in Gloucester on Monday August 27 at 7pm. Memorials may be made to the church or to the Green Beret Foundation at Greenberetfoundation.org
