Richard H. Couch, 80, of Mathews, Virginia passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021. He was born in Miami, FL on August 9, 1940 to the late James L. Couch and Margaret A. Couch.
He was a 1962 graduate of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. With a degree in electrical engineering. He was employed by NASA, Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia from 1962 through 2003. He started his career as an electrical engineer and advanced through a series of increasingly responsible technical and management positions to retire in 2003 as the project manager of the B-757 Aft Flight Deck Project. He was the holder of three U.S. Patents for contributions to aircraft and spaceflight activities in support of the NASA mission. He was the recipient of numerous technical and management awards for his contributions including the Exceptional Service Medal, the Manned Flight Awareness Award and the Silver Snoopy.
He is survived by a cousin, Elaine Wagner and family of Colorado.
As per his wishes, there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia is assisting the family.
