Richard Hoferkamp

HARTFIELD
Richard A. Hoferkamp, Sr. (Cdr. USN Ret.) of Hartfield, 71, passed away at home on October 5, 2012 after a brief illness.
He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1964. He was a member and past Master of Masonic Lodge #83 AF & AM in Urbanna and a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter #69 in West Point.
He was preceded in death by his brother David Hoferkamp. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years and best friend, Jan Hoferkamp; 2 sons, Richard Hoferkamp, Jr. (Rachel) and Wayne Hoferkamp, and a daughter Carol Thatcher (Scott). Grandchildren: Ashlee and Brett Davis, Tristan, Taylour and Macgyver Hoferkamp, and Thomas and Samuel Thatcher. He is also survived by a brother Donald Hoferkamp (Ardetta).
A memorial service will be held at Lower United Methodist Church in Hartfield VA at 11:00 am on Friday, October 12, 2012 followed by a Masonic memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial gifts to Lower United Memorial Church, PO Box 98, Hartfield, VA or your favorite charity.
