Richard Douglas Hudgins (Rickie), age 71, passed away at Riverside Regional Hospital on
October 31, 2021 with his family by his side after a short illness. Rickie was born
on April 2, 1950 and preceded in death by his parents, Charles D. & Maida G. Hudgins.
Rickie was a graduate of Mathews High School, Class of 68. After graduation he joined
the U. S. Coast Guard, active and inactive for four years. He then worked for Tidewater
Telephone Company in Gloucester, Va. and worked on the water which was always his passion.
He was a very accomplished guitarist playing in a number of bands through the years
as well as performances throughout the state. He was an avid duck hunter, loved fishing
and was a true Washington Redskin fan.
He is survived by his much-adored daughter, Anna H. Jenkins (Preston); sister, Laurie H.
Walden (Danny); brothers, Ronnie Hudgins (Maxine) and Kennie Hudgins; proud
grandfather to Justin, Kevin, Nathan and Autumn Jenkins as well as many nieces,
nephews, cousins and special friends, B. J. Clark, Bobby West and Walt Stillman.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 12:30 – 2 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church, P.O.
