Ronald Wells Simon passed away peacefully at his Urbanna home on Monday, November 20, 2017. He was born August 1, 1936 in Frostburg, MD to Reverend Walter V. Simon and Margaret Wells Simon. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Simon; sons, Eric Simon (Judith) and Karl Simon (Gina); grandchildren, Anna, Rachel and Jacob Simon; extended family, Gale Brubeck, John and Dale Merola, and Cheryl Wimer. He retired in 1996 after working 38 years at the Newport News Shipyard as an Engineering Supervisor. He resided in Hampton, Va., before moving to Urbanna, Va., in 1995. He was a former member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hampton, Va., a Scoutmaster of Troop 55 of Hampton Va., and was in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 62, Deltaville, Va. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25th, from 2 to 4p.m. at the Middlesex County Woman’s Club at 210 Virginia St., Urbanna, Va., 23175. Private burial services will be held at a later date at Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Staunton, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gloucester and Mathews Humane Society, P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, Va., 23061.
