Rose Suyes

Rose Marie “Sitti” Mehfoud Suyes, 78, of Deltaville, Virginia passed away on January 13, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents Marie O’Grady Mehfoud and Anthony P. Mehfoud; brother, Tony; sister, Nora; and her son, David R. Suyes III, “Ricky”. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, best friend and love of her life, David R. Suyes, Jr. “Jerry”, five daughters, Jere (Cary), Julie, Susan (Chuck), Sara (Jonathan), Jana, fifteen grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher (Kelsey), Daniel, Richard, Lindsay, Alden, Zachary, Lauren, CAM, Rhys, Aidan, Caroline, Adam, Jacob, Caleb and her four siblings, Ann (Tory), David, John (Suzanne), Jimmy (Lettie), along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. As the matriarch and role model to her family, she instilled the importance of love, kindness, and faith into her children and grandchildren. Marie was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia and graduated from MCV School of Pharmacy in 1961 then went on to practice part time while raising six children. She was an active member of Church of the Visitation and numerous clubs; Dunlora Woman’s Club, Middlesex Rotary Club, a founding member of the Middlesex YMCA, Book Club of Deltaville, Rivers Club, Garden Club, the Night Riders and one of her favorites, “Canasta”. Her involvement reflected her longtime dedication and commitment to many clubs and professional boards throughout her life. She had a love for cruises and traveling the world with Jerry, along with zest for life that was contagious. She would light up any room she entered and never met a stranger. Her beauty, strength and love for adventure will be missed by all. The family will receive friends Friday, January 27, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, 15 CF Edwards Lane, Saluda, VA. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 28 at Church of the Visitation, 8462 General Puller Hwy., Topping, VA with a burial immediately following at the church cemetery.
