Ruby Akins

Ruby Rowe Akins passed peacefully at the age of 89 on Monday, October 8, 2018. She is the lone surviving child of eleven children and a native of Gwynn’s Island, Virginia. She attended Buxton School of Nursing. She faithfully attended the church of the Nazarene and loved her Lord and family. She loved a good ball game, working in her yard and garden. She had a good wit and loved life.

She was predeceased by her parents, Addie Diggs and George Vernon Rowe; husband, Bill Akins and a special nephew, Kenneth W. Williams. She is survived by a dear niece Shirley W. Hudgins and many other nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 3:00pm at the Gwynn’s Island Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church of the Nazarene, Pastor Dave McKnight, P.O. Box 246, Hudgins, VA 23076. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia assisted the family with the arrangements.
