Sharon Lent Geib of Hartfield, VA and formerly of Rocky Point, New York, left this earth on July 12, 2022. Sharon was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister that was loved, and will always be cherished. She was born to Bill and Audrey Lent in Glen Cove, New York on November 12, 1956. She had the most amazing childhood, where she grew up on the north shore of the Long Island Sound with her three siblings and made many lifelong friends. Their favorite gathering spot was a huge stone outcropping just off Shoreham beach. She was “Queen of the Rock”.
In 1981, Sharon married the love of her life, John Geib. Their children Mathew and Amy were her heartfelt joy. There was no doubt about that. Matthew, blue-eyed and tall, is a lot like his dad, and petite Amy with long dark hair is a reminder of her lovely mother. Grandson S.J. stole her heart. He loved his Nanny and shared a very special bond with this very special lady.
Sharon had a 40+ year career at Long Island Lighting Company and National Grid plc, where she rose through the ranks and excelled as a senior analyst and manager. Her co-workers knew they could rely on Sharon to expertly navigate every challenge and respected her, not only as a valued colleague, but as a wise and thoughtful friend.
She and John spent 41 years, side by side, and loved exploring the beaches and backroads of Long Island, and then coastal Virginia. She was a relaxed girl who loved simple things such as swimming, sunning, fishing, camping, relaxing by a fire and just enjoying life’s little pleasures. Life on the River was heaven to her.
Loved ones that cleared the path for Sharon are her beloved father and mother Bill and Audrey Lent and her in-laws John and Regina Geib. Loved ones that will miss Sharon until they meet again are her husband John Geib, daughter Amy Mucaria (Joe), grandson S.J. Mucaria, son Mathew Geib, her brother Tim Lent (Sandi), sisters Susan Matura (Jerry) and Michelle Lent, plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. All join in to celebrate the life of Sharon Geib at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, Virginia here the family will remain until 7:00 P.M.
