Sheddie Armistead

Sheddie H. Armistead, 73, of Mathews, Virginia passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014. He was a native of Mathews County, and worked side by side on the water with his father until his death in 1993. He was always so proud to have worked on the water with his father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Armistead, and his mother, Lois Palmer. He is survived by his sisters, Patricia A. West (Lawrence) of Mathews, and Bettye Johnson of Hampton. He is also survived by his nieces, Jennifer Hancock (Andy), Tammy VanWart (Ken), and Sabrina Davis (Bobby), along with several great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Horn Harbor Cemetery, Peary, Virginia, officiated by

Dr. Ralph Satter. A visitation and reception will follow the service at Bethel United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1130, Mathews, VA 23109 or the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 723, Mathews, VA 23109, or to your favorite charity.
