Shirley Tomlin

Shirley A. Tomlin, 86 of Hallieford, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022. She was a member of Mathews Baptist Church and she volunteered with Mathews Meals on Wheels. Shirley loved her gardening, caring for the elderly and children, especially her grandchildren, even helping her grandson with selling newspapers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Eugene “Gene” Tomlin, and she is survived by her children, Patty T. Strigle (Brown), Ed Tomlin (Lisa) and Becky Sturgeon; brother, James Byrns (Toshie); grandchildren, Carrie Willis (Patrick), Nathan Walton (Laura), Heather Gray (Coley), Joshua Tomlin (Erin), Justin Tomlin, Amy Ezzell, Ben Tomlin, Patrick Strigle, Mary Petersen (Avery), Paige Hickox and Haley Hickox; 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews followed by burial in H.C. Smither Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21st at the funeral home.
