Silas Rex Runyon, 91, of Ruther Glen, formerly of Champlain passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 surrounded by his family. Rex was a World War II Navy Veteran having served in the South Pacific. He was a retired employee of C&P Telephone having 33 years of service. Rex was a member of the American Legion, the Telephone Pioneer Club and Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was on the building and grounds committee for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Addie Jane Runyon; five children Rex A. Runyon of Burke, Gini Steiding of Ruther Glen, Kim Runyon of Stafford, Tod Runyon of Fredericksburg and Debbie Sutton of Ruther Glen; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock with the Reverend Danny Pack officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 12 Noon in Quantico National Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Ryan Runyon, Shane Runyon, Adrian Steiding, Scott Steiding, Megan Runyon, Patrick Runyon, Rex Runyon and Tod Runyon.
