Sylvia Smith

Sylvia Brooks Smith, age 88, of Mathews, Virginia passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, the Lilly Hopkins Circle and the William Davis Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey "Charlie" Smith; a daughter, Marsha Ann Smith, her parents, William Grady and Violet Hudgins Brooks, and a brother, Clayborne Brooks. Sylvia is survived by two sons, A. Wayne (Laura) Smith of Mathews, Virginia, William A. (Christine) Smith of Moon, Virginia; a daughter, Nancy Haywood Pitts ( Chuck) of Isle of Wight, Virginia; 2 sisters, Pauline Arnett and Juanita Long both of Mathews, Virginia and one brother, Hugh Brooks (Sara Ann); five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four nieces and five nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 6, 2014 from 7 – 8:30 pm at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Virginia. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm, June 7, 2014 at the Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Pear Tree Cemetery, Onemo, Virginia.
