Tammy Kay Ellis, 58, of Middlesex County, VA, was called home June 29, 2020 surrounded by her family.
Tammy was born in Hampton, VA on September 20, 1961 to the late Lynn Snyder and Janet Kay Snyder-McPherren.
Tammy enjoyed various careers but none more than her work at the Middlesex County Sheriffs office where she was a Communications Supervisor. Her work involved managing 911 calls for her fellow community members. She began her service to community as an EMT for Deltaville Rescue and as a volunteer at the Middlesex County Sheriff’s office in 2000 and then served along side her husband in the law enforcement field from 2003-2017. Her dedication to her work saved lives, averted tragedy, and encouraged her fellow officers.
Tammy loved family gatherings, going to the beach, and shoe shopping with her mother. More than anything, she loved her grandbabies and great grandbabies who so affectionately called her Memere. Her love for her many dogs and cats was abundant. In recent years, she and her Min Pin, Tucker, were inseperable. Tammy’s strength and courage was evident in all she did.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Jim Ellis of Middlesex, Sons; Jacob Schultz (Haley) of Williamston, NC, David Ellis (Heather) of Newport News, VA, Daughter; Karen Ellis (Brian) of Newport News, Mother; Janet Kay McPherren of Mathews, Sister; Tracy Gaskins (Mike) of Mathews, Sister in law; Linda Ellis (Russell), of San Antonio, TX, Grandchildren; Destiny Parenteau, Cheyenne Mello, Alyssa Tucker, Bethany Tucker, Sarah Ellis, Emily Ellis, Morgan Milby, Kaylyn Schultz, Brayden Schultz, Dylan Markel, and Lawson Schultz, Nephews; Camden Gaskins and Gage Gaskins, and four great grandchildren.
