Tom was born in Hanover, VA on February 2, 1947. Shortly after, his family moved to Weeks Farm in Water View, where he grew up farming small grain crops. In 1965, he graduated Middlesex High School and attended Ferrum College.
He spent the majority of his life working the land, and in his off season, working the water, which brought him great joy and fulfillment. Upon his retirement, he shared his love and passion of farming by starting Traditions truck farming with his daughter, Rebecca, and raising orchard grass hay on Rosemary Farm with his daughter, Sarah. Proud of his Southern heritage, Tom was also a member of the Hanover Dragoons Camp #827 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a devout Christian, honoring and serving the Lord throughout his life; loving the Lord with all his heart.
Tom will always be remembered for his larger than life personality and quick wit. He left an indelible mark on all those whom he met and those who knew and loved him. Family and friends are invited to share memories of Tom's life on Sunday, September 2, 2018 from 1 to 6pm at the residence of Sarah Rae, 2357 Burch's Mill Rd, Urbanna, VA 23175.
