Thomas Theodore Vest (Ted), 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. Ted was born on July 24, 1932 in Richmond to the late Stewart Mosely Vest and Josephine Pritchett Vest. He graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond in 1951 and later received a degree in Business from RPI (now VCU). He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked for IBM and later for Control Data Corporation for many years. He spent several years with his family living in Vienna, Austria and servicing clients in the Soviet Union while working for CDC. He retired from CDC and moved to Deltaville where he has lived for the past 38 years. He was involved in several businesses here including real estate and the marina business. He had a passion for boats and the sea and was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time there. Ted’s cruising adventures included Bermuda, the Bahamas, the many islands of the Caribbean, the Great Loop and the entire eastern seaboard from Maine to Florida. Ted was predeceased by his brothers, Stewart Burnley Vest and Robert Duval Vest, and his sister, Mary Lou Vest Alford. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 62 years, Constance Dean Vest, two sons, Michael Alan Vest (Dee) and Willard Duval Vest (Bonnie). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Shannon Epps (Brian), Joseph Vest (Ashley), Travis Vest, Paul Vest, Malcolm Vest, and Katie Vest, and three great grandchildren, Payton Epps, Aiden Epps and Theodore Vest. Ted and Connie are so fortunate to have 15 wonderful nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in the Chapel at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm, and the service will be at 2 pm.
