Travers Thompson

Travers Thompson, age 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Cobbs Creek, VA on January 5, 2018 after a short battle with cancer, with his wife of 72 years by his side. He was born on January 29, 1924 on Goshen Farm in Redart, VA. Cmdr. Thompson retired from the United States Navy after 30 years of service.

Travers was preceded in death by his son, John Travers Thompson. He is survived by his wife Trudy Thompson; daughter Debbie Thompson; grandchildren E. Jeffrey Thompson (Robin) and Tracey Thompson; great grandson John Travers Thompson II; daughter-in-law Sharon Thompson; brother Gilbert Thompson and his family.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church, Cobbs Creek, VA at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:00pm. Burial with full military honors will follow at Haynes Cemetery.
