Vassill Anthony

Vassill “Bill” Anthony, 68, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at his home in Mathews, VA. He was born on January 1, 1951 in Cyprus, came to the U.S. at the age of 2 and became an American citizen in 1958. He was a 1968 graduate from George Washington High School. He owned and operated Anthony’s Texaco (Anthony’s Auto Center) in Alexandria, VA. He took over the business from his father and lived and worked in Alexandria for over 40 years. He had a passion for speed from his first 1959 corvette he bought as a teen, to his last a 1997 he bought at the age of 45. He had many hot rods and boats in between.

He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Myrianthi Anthony and his loving wife of 45 years, Christine M. Anthony, who passed away 6 days before. He is survived by his 2 children; his son, J. Matthew Anthony (Susan); his daughter, Katina Anthony Porter (Douglas); and his granddaughter Elisabeth Eve Porter.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 1:00pm at Saumsville Christian Church in Maurertown, VA. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery. Faulkner Funeral Home, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, VA assisted the family with the arrangements.
