Violet Walden “Sookie” Hudgins, 86, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Riverside-Walter Reed Hospital. Sookie was a homemaker for many years. She enjoyed being in the yard, working in her beautiful flower beds. She loved attending Zoar Church and being with her church family. Most of all, she loved her family and was very proud of all their accomplishments during her life.
Sookie was preceded in death by her parents, William Preston Walden, Sr. and Lena Pauline Walden; her husband, Wade Hudgins; a son, Rusty Hudgins; her brothers, David Walden, Bill Walden and her sisters, Thelma Hurst and Jane Walden.
She is survived by her son, Waynie Hudgins (Jeannie); grandsons, Preston Hudgins (April) and Tyler Thompson; granddaughter, Evie Hudgins; daughter-in-law, Terry Hudgins and special friends, Gloria Godsey, Virginia Haywood, caregiver, Lacie DeWolf and her beloved dog “J.R.”
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia followed with burial at noon at St. Paul Annex, Susan, Virginia.
