Virginia Akers

Virginia Gail Verlander Akers, 60, of Water View, daughter of the late James & Bernice Verlander, passed away at her home on Tuesday, Dec 8, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her son, James “Wesley” Akers, III, and a sister Barbara Shores. She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, James W. Akers, Jr; daughter, Kristina A. Tas (Robert) and son Thomas E. Akers (Danielle); three grandchildren, Xane & Gage Tas of New Kent and Dylan Akers of Water View; two sisters, Linda V. Glenn (Dave) of Ashland and Betty V. Burch (Ricky) of Water View. Funeral services will held Friday, December 11, at 1pm at Bristow Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda. Interment will follow at Lower United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hartfield.
