Wesley R. Summerfield Jr. of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday morning. A loving and giving man, he never met a stranger and was adored by all. Wes looked after all of us and always put our needs before his own all of his life. He was without fail excited about what life had to offer and was constantly building and planning until his last day.
As a U.S. Air Force veteran and master machinist, he contributed to some of the most important aviation and space exploration projects of his time.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Copley Summerfield, his son, Wesley R. Summerfield III, four step-children, Elizabeth H. Ware, Paul G. Harris, J. Daniel Harris and C. Paige Harris, his grandson, Wesley R. Summerfield IV, and nine loving step-grandchildren, Joseph, Claire, Nathaniel, John Andrew, Kevin, Josh, Rachel, Kai and Hunter. Wes was preceded in passing by his first wife, Patricia Wells Summerfield.
You were always our rock and you will be terribly missed, my loving father. Arrangements by Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.
