William Clarke

Clarke, William Madison- William was saved in 1956 and has served his Lord and Savior until death took him home on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Tolson Clarke, his son, William Dale Clarke and his parents Ira Madison Clarke and Mable Smith Clarke. William is survived by his wife, Glenyss Pittman Clarke; his son, David Wesley Clarke (Mary); four grandchildren, William “Will” Elliott Clarke (Kristen), Olivia Dale Clarke, Madison “Madi” Clarke Shepherd (Will) and David Wesley Clarke, Jr.; three great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, Jason Pittman, Jimmie Pittman, Jr. ,Katie Bradsher , Joshua Pittman and Paola Torres; three step-sons, Randy Pittman, Jimmie Pittman and Michael Pittman; devoted niece, Nancy Jones. William spent his entire life living in Essex County. He finished school at Essex High and served in the U. S. Navy for four years in the Korean War. He owned and operated the Essex Auto Upholstery Shop for fifty years. William was a Chartered member of Victory Baptist Church in Warsaw and served as Deacon under the leadership of Rev. Ben Wharton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 in the Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock. The Reverend Dr. Randy Pittman and Reverend Todd Brown will officiate. Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon Saturday until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Will Clarke, Wesley Clarke, Will Shepherd, Wayne Hart, Larry Robinson and Skipper Garrett. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene McMahon, E. A. Reinhardt and William’s Sunday school class at Ephesus.
