William Henry Lambertson “ Hank” Dunton, aged 64, passed away peacefully on June 1st , 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, and member of the Urbanna community.
Born on May 8, 1959, in Blackstone, Virginia, Hank was the son of the late Eubank Downes Dunton and Frances Harrison Deberry Dunton. He grew up in Blackstone alongside his brother Fletcher Dunton, where he developed a strong sense of family, church and community values.
Hank was a dedicated family man and loving husband to his wife, Kim Dunton. They were married on January 21, 2005, and their bond was a source of strength and joy throughout their years together. He was a proud and devoted father to Myra Dunton, as well as a loving stepfather to Zach, Rachel, and David Barranco. In addition to his children, he was the grandfather to Ethan and Anson Ritchey, and the Godfather to Michele Bare Eckman. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Hank had an accomplished professional history. He studied at Virginia Wesleyan University and attended Kenston Forest High School. This set the foundation for his future endeavors. Throughout his career, he held various positions, but particularly enjoyed entrepreneurship, and in this he excelled through his dedication and expertise. He was the owner of The Motor Doctors in Urbanna, Virginia. Prior to that, he was Owner/Agent at Farmers Insurance Agents. Through the years he served as a Store Leader at Plow & Hearth, Hardlines Zone Manager at Gander RV, and Assistant Manager at The Home Depot.
Earlier in life Hank was also in the Bensley-Bermuda Rescue Squad where he lovingly donated his time to serve the public in Chesterfield County, as well as a paid Paramedic for CVAS. in Richmond. He also gave back to the community through the challenges of the automotive industry in Richmond, before moving to Harrisonburg. He was a valued member and officer of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks.
In his free time, Hank indulged in his many interests and hobbies. He had a passion for saltwater fishing and boating, finding tranquility on the open water and in classic boats of the Chesapeake Bay. Cooking and savoring local seafood and game brought him great joy, and he delighted in sharing his culinary creations with loved ones. Hank was an avid car enthusiast, spending time working on and driving his beloved Corvette was one of his favorites. He also had a passion for hunting and target shooting, appreciating the great outdoors. Hank had a deep love for literature and enjoyed both writing and reading.
Friends and family will remember Hank for his kind heart, warm smile, and generosity. He was always there to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement to those in need. His gentle spirit and compassionate nature touched the lives of many.
A memorial service to celebrate Hank's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on June 6th, 2023, at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel in Saluda, Virginia.
