William Lowery

William W. Lowery, III of Tappahannock passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. William was co-owner and operator of Lowery’s Restaurant, where he began working with his parents. He was a graduate of Essex County Schools and Hampden Sydney College, Class of 1964. William also graduated from Lewis School of Hotel & Restaurant Management in Washington, DC. He had previously served on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Restaurant Association and Southside Bank. He had served in the US Army Reserve and was a lifelong member of Beale Memorial Baptist Church. William enjoyed playing golf with his friends and played very well. He was a wonderful man who loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

William is survived by his devoted wife Sharon Lowery; two sons, William W. Lowery, IV and David Lowery (Jess); eight grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Lowery (Nancy) and Michael Lowery (Mary Beth); one sister, Patricia Waters (Jerry); several nieces and nephews and the devoted employees of Lowery’s Resturant.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 in the Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock with the Reverend David Donahue officiating. Interment will follow in Essex Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
