Woodford "Woody" Leland Johnson Sr.

Woodford L. “Woody” Johnson, Sr. , 74, of Tappahannock passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023.

A Vietnam War veteran, having served in the 101st Airborne Division, Woody joined the Tappahannock Police Department in 1971 and diligently served his community for 48 years, retiring in 2019 as a Lieutenant. He will be remembered by the Tappahannock community as not only a dedicated public servant, but also, a friend and neighbor.

Woody is survived by his son, Woodford L. “Woody” Johnson, Jr., daughter-in-law, Kelley E. Johnson, and grandson Mason C. Johnson of Dunnsville.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents, Larkin D. Johnson and Josephine L.  Johnson and his siblings, Larkin D. Johnson, Jr. and Mary J. Burch.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 1 PM at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock, VA, with burial following at Glebe Landing Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately preceding the service, starting at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel.
